Another Jacket Day

This morning started off chilly, which was a surprise since it was 79 yesterday. After visiting the farmer's market today we went to the fitness center where we did our routines and exercised a bit in the pool. On the way back we spotted a lot of wind surfers on the Banana River. We stopped and got a couple of pictures of them. The wind was pretty high today, so they must have turned out by the dozens.
Another milestone was reached today as Louise finished Bob's sweater. This sweater started on October 28, and is now done, washed, and drying. Keep watch, Bob, it will be on it's way north while it is still cold enough to need it!

The Surf is Wild

The weather is wild here again today as we awoke to another heavy storm warning and lots of wind, rain, and lightning. This picture, taken at sunset, shows you why Cocoa Beach is a major surfing site. Notice the cruise ship in the background? We signed up today for a three day cruise to the Bahamas on February 4. Life is getting more exciting here! We did our exercising this morning, and we are developing a regular routine at the gym.

Florida Living

We are at the end of a very busy week here at Cocoa Beach. We have kept moving. While Louise knit on Wednesday with the knitting group, Gary found a Senior Center with a live orchestra and dancing. Here you can see a picture of them.
Thursday and Friday we spent hours at the fitness center as each of us had an orientation with a trainer and learned an exercise routine. Then we topped it off with activity in the pool.
Saturday Gary had another art lesson, and he has moved on to another painting. While Gary went to class, Louise spent over an hour in the sun reading a book. We stayed at the pool Saturday until it closed.
Today we went on an adventure to Titusville and took a hike through the Enchanted Forest, a park and preserve. We met a few Tiger Cubs there having an outing. The day was beautiful, warm and breezy, and the forest was fun. Unfortunately we didn't have a camera with us. When we left we managed to lock our keys inside the apartment so we couldn't get back in to get it. We plan to go back and take a camera next time.
This coming week we plan to continue our exercise program and Louise is going to try swimming lessons. We will come back home so improved no one will recognize us! Seriously, we are having a wonderful time and enjoying all of it. We wish we could share it with all of you.

Perfect Day

The sky was blue and cloudless. The sun shone all day. A gentle breeze blew through the trees. It was warm. This was the perfect day, the day that people like us from the north came south to find. We both went to a water fitness class this morning, and spent the afternoon in the sun, reading and painting. This evening we went out to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner. It was a perfect day.
Our focus in the next few days is going to be fitness. We have each signed up for an orientation at the fitness center for one-on-one instruction on the use of the various pieces of equipment there on Thursday and Friday.
We also spent little time at a park on the Banana River, where you can see Louise standing in the picture.

Florida Weather Returns

Yesterday the temperature hit 71. Today is really humid and still warm. This is what we came to Florida for! For your entertainment today we have a picture of the new health center we have visited. Everything is state of the art and the facilities are amazing. We also have some pictures of the beach right beside us as the weather made a walk a pleasant event. Gary is still painting. Tomorrow he has an art class and he has been working on a major project for several days. Louise is still knitting and took the sweater out to the deck yesterday, as well as to the knitting group on Wednesday. All is well and life is good.

Busy Days

In these pictures you see artist Gary at work, and his two latest creations. Today we went to Michael's craft store to restock the art supplies, using coupons that made it an economical purchase. Gary also purchased a portfolio to display his works since we have run out of wall space. Some yarn managed to sneak into the cart so that Louise can start a sweater after she finishes her Christmas knitting. Our gym membership was obtained yesterday, so we have been to an incredibly warm pool swimming the past two days. Louise took an aqua arthritis class this morning. She also fit in a Weight Watchers class this morning, and is getting ready for a knitting group tomorrow morning. So we are keeping busy despite the chilly temperatures. There was frost again this morning.

Life at the Beach

Gary has been painting steadily during this spell of cold weather. Here we share with you a few of the works he has done. Louise decided to not let this beautiful day get away from her, so armed with her chair, her sweater, and her knitting she spent the afternoon on the beach. It was a stunning day with sunshine and blue skies. We are settling into life at Cocoa Beach and making contacts with groups and activities. Louise has found a weight watchers class and a knitting circle. Gary has signed up for water color classes. We have both decided to join a fitness center where we will be able to swim and exercise.

The Cold Continues

We hear that the temperature here was about the same as it was at home yesterday. It was about 45 during the day and down to 29 this morning. We have done a little driving around exploring things the past two days. Yesterday we went to Merritt Island and today we went to Melbourne and Eau Gallie. The Tom Tom got all confused with the roads, lots of construction and changes maybe. Gary has been doing some painting and Louise is knitting and computing. She went to the beach to read for a few minutes dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and jeans! Where did that summer weather go that we felt briefly in Georgia last week? Tomorrow morning Louise has found a weight watcher's class to go to on Merritt Island.

We have arrived!

We made it to Florida this morning, and moved into our place this afternoon. Gary says it feels like coming home again. The weather did not cooperate today. Not only did it rain, it poured! The river is up to the road crossing the causeway over here, and at times it was difficult to see anything along the road as it rained so hard. However, the "cold" weather today is about 50, a temperature we welcome! We did some shopping, and have unpacked, ready to relax a little and rest up from the four days of travel.
